My Month In Photos - June 2016
Remember last month when I got all inspired reading Hannah's blog and decided to switch up the way I write these monthly reviews? Doesn't that seem like months ago.....was only about 30 odd days, go figure.
Oh and I've also had to change my promo photos due to my new blog layout so there's a fun fact for you too!
What I Did:
I legit had to look back on Instagram to see what I've been up to this month. June feels like it's lasted for about 12 weeks and I am finding it hard to separate what was when. May was really fun and busy and exciting with going away and birthdays and June was much more quiet. My brother and his family went on holiday for a week mid June on his birthday which meant I didn't have my niece so I spent the whole week furiously working on my blog before she got back (she's the love of my life and all but damnnn babies take up a lot of time!). I have started doing the weekly food shop for the family because my mum hates supermarkets more than life and I have a car now so I have been doing that a lot and I got myself a little job one day a week for the summer so that's Tuesdays out for me too. The second weekend of June I met up with some friends from school in the house that holds memories of 17 year old parties and last weekend I met up with friends from my Foundation course but more on that in my Friday Favs.
What I Watched:
So obviously this month has been all about Europe in all sense of the word. The Euros 2016 football started on my brother's birthday and whilst I haven't watched all of it obviously I've been watching Wales and England with keen interest! Who'd ever have thought Wales would make it through to the quarter finals? The whole world probs. I obviously also watched a lot of news coverage, debates and programmes about the EU referendum before and after the result and I spent the night of furiously refreshing the polls on my phone whilst everyone else in the house slept. Googlebox ended (boo) but Gogglesprogs started and whilst I didn't really enjoy the pilot episode at Christmas I have enjoyed this series so far so I'm glad I stuck with it. I haven't had much time to watch films this month but I did watch the Top Gear Bolivia special twice in a week because it is comedy gold. I finally finally got into Game of Thrones too and binge watched series 1 - 5 on boxset in the first few weeks of the month. Oh and the Last Leg is back too so yeah, TV is good right now.
What I Worked On:
After a really quiet May on the business front when I was getting a little worried, June picked up again thank god. A few weeks back I worked on a really quick turnaround deadline for a little piece for graphic designer Ben Seas who I worked on the Conwy Collective with before Christmas. He must be happy with the work I do for him because I just yesterday finished another bigger project for him which I am super happy with and can't wait to share with everyone when he's finished his part. I also had a portrait commission which deadlines tomorrow which I also can't share but I love and am considering offering up as a service to other people. My Etsy store is going from strength to strength since I had my redesign and giveaway and I have had such lovely feedback from everyone who has bought something! Don't forget I have 20% off a second order all summer long so treat yo self!
What I Chatted About:
I've been a bit hit and miss with chats this month. Normally Sundays, Wednesdays and Mondays are really busy chat wise but some weeks I've had to forgo some, if not all of them, simply from being too busy! Chats like The Girl Gang and Late Night Bloggers can go OFF and normally take a whole load of concentration to take part in so I find I can't do anything else but chat which isn't always doable, such is life. However some of the chat topics as always have been brilliant and I particularly loved a Big Brother themed one from Late Night Bloggers where my plan was to sleep the whole event through if I went into the house and a absolute corker from Bee Chat hosted by Food & Baker which made everyone massively hungry.
What I Blogged:
This is my 26th blog post this month and for someone who doesn't have a target blog post count for the month, I don't think that's too shabby. My most popular blogs this month were actually written last month and were on my bullet journal which I'm not bitter about. I know I should hope my content is improving every month and it is but Pinterest pins of my bullet journal posts have gone viral and I have stats like I have never seen before. For things I have written this month, it's unsurprisingly my EU Referendum posts that have had the most attention and the loveliest comments. Originally my post on what the Referendum was got a lot of lovely feedback because it was unbiased, I was just trying to bust some myths and give some facts and make it easier for people to understand. Following that I did a reactive post to how I felt about Brexit and I think if you go and read the comments at the bottom you'll see that a lot of people felt the same way as me and we were all just trying to work out our feelings. These were actually my favourite posts to write too but I also enjoyed doing something different with What's In My Bag: The Roadtrip Edit and A Beauty Post Written By A Non Beauty Blogger.
What I Loved:
This month has been pretty full on and I haven't been able to catch up with my favourite blogs as much as I might've liked. At one point my Bloglovin unread was over 200 but I finally got it down to twenty something (ironic) yesterday. I wrote my 7 Thing I Read Online purely on bloggers this month so that's a pretty healthy round up of what I have enjoyed blog wise. Other than that, Hannah's have been killing it lately and have wormed their way into my saved items on the app. Hannah Emily Lane wrote a Blogging Terminology 101 which is a god send and I would've massively appreciated stumbling across when I was a new blogger and Hannah Gale wrote a post about Europe that really sums up why we need to stay united when things are a bit scary right now. One of the posts I loved most this month was from my good old pal Hailey from Hailey Jade Ryan who wrote 10 Reasons Why I Love The Kardashians which 1. had me howling and 2. I loved so much even before I got to the bottom and found my own name nestled in there. Sign of a good blog gal pals.
So that's it, another month successfully navigated - hope you're not freaking out too much that it's July tomorrow (I am).
