5 Quotes To Live By This April
I admittedly like to get this post up on the first of the month but ya know, that was a Friday so I couldn't sacrifice my Friday Favs and then I had yesterday's post about my NYE resolutions scheduled and well, here we are on day 3 of the month.
In case you're new to my blog (in which case, thanks for popping over boo) I like to inspire myself and all of you with 5 quotes to live by over the next month.
(FYI I have started crediting the photos underneath with a hyperlink rather than at the bottom of the pots, make sure you go repin them!)
1. April Showers Bring May Flowers.
I mean do I really need to explain this one? As well as a motto for the month ahead or some inspiring words on how to live your life, I also like to find at least one quote that sums up the feeling of the month. April is renowned for showers, I've even known it to snow sometimes but lets just remember that however soggy the next 4 week can get, May is coming, the flowers are blooming and we're hopefully in for something warmer soon. Get the sunnies out in prep I say.
2. I love early mornings when it feels like the rest of the world is still fast asleep and you're the only one who's awake and everything feels like it isn't really real about your problems because for now it's just you, the world and the sunrise.
Bit of a wordy one for a title I'll admit. This is something that really resonates with me at the moment because as I have mentioned 2789274935 times, my boyfriend is a carer and works around a 15-16 hour day. Because we live together and I am a light sleep (and a top girlfriend obvs) I am up at 5.30 in the morning with him and I am getting back home at 11pm like him too. On an average day I take the opportunity to drive back to my parents house where my studio/office is and be at my desk in the small hours of the morning working. Whilst I don't like the sound of my alarm disturbing my sleep at such a ridiculous time of day, I do like how much of the day is ahead of me and what I really like is driving that early in the day. Because of the clocks changing, these days I am driving into the sunrise and that is something really special. Call me sad but it starts my day off in a good way following my boyfriend in his little C1 (we have matching cars, I hate us too) down the lanes until we get to the junction where with a little toot of the horn we part company and I drive home. So this one might just be for me but if you can muster up the willpower to get up in the small hours, do and watch the sunrise one day this month because it really sets you up smiling for the rest of the day.
3. Where the spirit does not work with the hand, there is not art.
So in my mind this doesn't just relate to art but can relate to all types of work in life and I'm hoping that means its a more accessible quote for the lot of you.... I have been reading a lot of blogs recently from people who've been on a break or can't seem to find their inspiration or have just fallen a bit out of love with the whole industry for the time being. I think half of the blogging world has hit this rough patch at the same time that half of us have really found or groove (groove, vom) and found a shed load of inspo. I am lucky enough to be in a really good place with my blog and the blogging community at the moment and I think that 99% definitely stems from the interactions I have had from blogging chats in March. Just speaking to people, engaging, talking about plans and ideas has really lifted my spirit and filled me with ideas and I think having your mind engaged is the most important thing when it comes to blogging. You can write the words even if you don't have inspiration but it just won't read as well, it just won't come across so well and it'll probably just make you feel crapper in the long run. If your mind isn't working with your hands this month, stop blogging, take a break, re- energise and put the blogger guilt aside, we only put it on ourselves anyway.
4. How we walk with the broken speaks louder than how we sit with the great.
So this quote when I saw it just jumped out at me and immediately made me think of #stlbloggers which was a new chat which popped up on my feed last Saturday night. Share The Love Bloggers chat was hosted and created by Caitlin Jade of Through The Looking Mirror and went so crazy viral it was trending and had to be turned into a 2 hour long special because everyone loved the chat so much and everyone was having such a nice time! The point of the chat is self explanatory, it's to share a little love and a little kindness on a Saturday night and I think that idea of giving a little is what made me think of it when I saw this quote. Make sure you join in next week's #stlbloggers!
5. Our daily discipline will determine our eternal destiny.
I absolutely love this quote and I think it's the one I will try and use as my mantra for April. In a year (yes I know we are only a quarter of the way through) of bullet journaling, I feel like this could do a lot of things for a lot of people. Hey maybe you could even print it out and stick it in the front of your journal. Being disciplined every day when it comes to things like organisation is key in my opinion to changing your habits and your mindset. If you can get into the habit of writing a to do list of everything you need to do the next day before bed, you won't stay up all night thinking of what needs to be done. If you can keep a paper record of your finances every week you can start cutting down on your expenses. If you can discipline yourself in even just one area of your life over the next month, chances are you'll keep at it in May and hey, whadda ya know, you've become the Beyonce of the organisation world.
Hope April brings you the last of the Easter chocolate and not too many showers (just keep them May flowers in mind yo).
*I am having a huge revamp of my Pinterest after converting it to a business account so bear with me, it'll be in tip top condition soon!
