One Snowy Day....
The mini beast from the east returned didn't it? I was out of the country (in Venice) when it made it's first appearance, though it didn't stop it delaying my travel plans. I missed the chance to photograph the snow the first time around so when Derek the weatherman (if you know, you know) forecast snow and disruption for a second time this weekend I knew it was my chance.
Yesterday morning, on what would have been a normal sleepy Sunday, Joss and I wrapped up warm in coats and wellies and woolies and took the dogs for a wander round the forest and the lake on our doorstep.
The best part about living as rural as we do is how unspoilt the snow is first thing when you wake up. Ok so the downside is no gritters come out to visit us so tomorrow morning trying to navigate these roads will be treacherous but ya know, for today at least it was pretty. I wrapped my camera in a plastic bag to keep it dry (and save it from Joss' snowballs) and the dogs investigated what had become of their normal walk and we had an hour out in the very fresh air.
We had no internet for 2 days for no apparent reason and whilst it eventually returned yesterday afternoon, the perks of not having it meant a quiet morning at home sorting through the 179 photos I took on our walk. Don't worry - they're not all in this post. These photos though are completely unedited which shows you just how magical the snow makes everything.
After our walk we got warm again at home with slippers and lunch in front of the TV in a blanket and towel dried the chilly, soggy dogs. Joss spent the afternoon emptying the attic with his Mum and I spent it blogging, getting some laundry done and watching Ibiza Weekender on catchup before we made fajitas for tea. Totally appropriate food given the weather amiright?
I've got a busy week coming up, babysitting my niece two days, working, shopping with my Mum, doing the food shop, cleaning the house and all the admin that comes before a trip away. Luckily though I have a 4 day week because on Friday I'll be travelling with Sarah to meet Hannah and Mel all the way down on the east coast for a weekend full of fun for Effi's wedding. So with a busy but exciting week ahead, with a weekend away imminent it was nice to have the day off to spend together and switch off from the rest of the world one snowy day.
How did you spend the snow day?
